Ellwood Robinson was purchased by K.J. Beamish Construction Co., Ltd. in 1966 as Ellwood Robinson Limited, a company primarily engaged in the road building business. Since the company was established in Sault Ste. Marie in 1935 by Ellwood Robinson, a citizen of Sault Ste Marie, K.J. Beamish recognized the value and goodwill of maintaining the original name which was well known in the Algoma district.
Today, Ellwood Robinson maintains an asphalt plant and 4 local gravel pits, in addition to a pit in Echo Bay. Our general work area extends from Wawa (220 kilometres to the north) to Elliot Lake (210 kilometres to the east) and all areas in between. Due to our extensive history in the North, our crews are experienced in all areas of the road building industry with expertise in excavation, granular base, hot mix paving, sewer and water main work, and concrete curbs and sidewalks. With various customers and clients including federal, provincial and municipal governments as well as private owners in the industrial, commercial and institutional sectors, and private homeowners, there is no job too big or too small.
During the winter months, Ellwood Robinson Inc. provides a wide range of plowing and sanding services at shopping malls, colleges, universities and commercial sites of all descriptions. Winter work leads to the requirement for sweeping and cleaning services for a variety of our winter customers. Stable, experienced management has proven again to be a key component in the successful operation of a company.
The company now continues the legacy under Ellwood Robinson Inc.
